Stanford Specialty Coffee Club (S2C2)
[ this page is still under construction while the initial S2C2 is formed! ]
About S2C2
S2C2's mission is to promote, raise and maintain awareness of specialty coffee culture. Interested in learning more about coffee? Or would you like to share your knowledge and thoughts about coffee beans, processing techniques, brewing methods, and anything else related to coffee? Join us on this journey to create a deep coffee culture at Stanford!
The S2C2 Charter
- Informal — We want to keep things low-key, informal, and with a low barrier to entry. If you don't have years of experience, but enjoy the specialty coffee scene, you are still welcome to attend a session and learn about the culture! After all, we are just a bunch of coffee nerds who drink coffee!
- Puristic — Our focus is on exploring the immense richness and variety of flavors that coffee offers in its purest form. If "coffee" to you means a Triple Caramel Pumpkin Latte from Coupa, we may be the wrong place for you, as much as we appreciate the effects of processed sugar products.
- Awareness — We want to raise awareness of coffee through engaged and informed consumption. The coffee industry as a whole has a significant impact on carbon emissions and water consumption and plays a role in the climate crisis we are currently experiencing. Knowing where the product comes from, how it is processed and brewed properly can lead to more conscious and reduced consumption.
What We Do
- We come together to share ideas, brewing techniques, and beans from different roasters. Along the way, we might do a few brewing sessions and learn about different setups!
- We might do some bulk ordering from roasters around the Bay Area or beyond! Ordering in larger quantities might allow us to split the cost or explore different blends from the same roaster.
- We may take a few trips to some of the famous cafes and roasters around Stanford, SF and the Bay Area!
